Papa Snake Poem by Snake Blocker

Papa Snake

You helped me more than I could count.
You bailed me out when rent was due,
When school bills came in,
And when my refrigerator was barren.

You helped me when my tank was on empty,
When my cars needed repairs,
When my business was slow,
And when my dogs needed to be fed.

You helped financially and you helped me with my spiritual growth.
You were never late to pick me up or dropp me off.
(Except for elementary school when we lived far away.)
You gave up eating so your children could eat.

You were strict with some things but you always let us have time to play.
You always took us to church, Sunday school and AWANA Club.
You gave us encouragement and hope,
And you stayed up at night so we all could sleep.

You took us to youth groups and youth activities.
You worked hard to give us shelter, education, clothing and food.
You are conservative with your funds and taught us to save.
(Although we never listened to that part as much) .

You're the hardest working man I know.
You set a good work ethic example and made us do the same.
You trusted us with weapons and to be back by dark.
You drove us through several states visiting friends, parks and campsites.

We enjoyed all the fieldtrips, road trips and museums.
You took us to our first professional baseball and basketball game.
You took us to the Olympics and to our first concerts.
You took us to several summer camps which gave us wonderful memories.

We didn't and still don't agree on each other's views on some subject matters,
But we respect each other's opinions.
You taught us to memorize and read the Bible,
And you bought us our first Bible, bike and rifle (that's all I needed) .

You set the example for us to read a lot of books.
You taught us to stay away from drugs, smoking and getting drunk.
You taught us about construction and demolition.
And you took us on our first fishing trip.

You like my hair short but I've always liked it long.
You like suits and I like torn blue jeans.
You like bargains and I like brand names.
But you accepted my style (although it took you long enough) .

You like collecting things.
I like to simplify and throw unneeded things out.
You like to multitask.
I like to focus on one project at a time.
You like diplomacy but I like to fight things out.

The differences make us close and we always support each other.
In the end the small stuff is still small stuff.
Either way I turned out great.
This poem is why I still love Papa Snake.
