Parallel Poem by Joseph Anthony Montefusco

Parallel

I am no longer among the living
Yet neither am I dead
Am I trapped in another dimension?
Or deep inside my head?

I’m lost within a void
Filled with clouds of dust and fear
The clouds and I will always collide
And nobody knows I’m here

Two paths appear before me
And I’m pulled in both directions
My mind is torn so the soul must choose
A way in this endless intersection

In one I see the sun
Where every jagged rock shows
Nothing is hidden from the sight of men
But it seems that nobody goes

Now the other is not the same
Every thing is dark and dim
Everyone is happy without any question
Because they’re all just following him

My soul decides its position
And I know where I must be
No longer am I trapped in the void
But in the only place for me.
