Past Present Future (Class Reunion) Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Past Present Future (Class Reunion)

Rating: 5.0

Like the nectar of honey bees,
The sweet times of our youth
Drip across our memories,
We girls still wore bows in
Our hair,
Thought all the boys were ten feet tall.
Our minds flash pictures radiant with
Tantalizing memories.
We see the instant replay of days long past
Recapturing those days of our youth,
String then together like pearls of time...
The memories dance in our heads and hearts
Flashbacks of yesterday...
We were happy and caught up in a whirlwind
Of youthful expectations...
Some of us were in love.
Here we are, embracing,
Our hearts and hands touching,
Sharing laughter,
Sharing a tear.
We sigh,
We feel anquish for those classmates departed,
Eulogizing them...
Remembering when...
We embrace their memory
Holding each of them in the circle of our love,
Throwing kisses to the wind we know
Their spirits will capture.
We light candles for each one, gone,
But not forgotten.
