Patience And Surprise Poem by gershon hepner

Patience And Surprise

The problem facing many men
and women, even nations,
when suffering is that that is when
they most require patience,
but nations, men and women, too,
too often find it rougher
to take a cool and patient view
than patiently and calm to suffer,
for everyone, yes, even nations,
must sometimes tough it out
and has to learn that no impatience
can put deep grief to rout.
Indeed, the whole world should remember,
impatience rarely pays;
fall comes when it will come, September
relieves hot summer days,
and spring will follow winter’s storm
with patience, when surprise,
the welcome element, will warm
the patient heart and eyes.
