Patiently Awaiting... Poem by Ashley Fortin

Patiently Awaiting...

What have I done with today?
The sun has shone and now it will be gone
I see the stars in their grey lucid sheeth crawl across the sky to me
But the world has been fullfiled and with it, who am I?
But while I think about it the night has already come
The ones I love are losing time and so am I
But when I know why I'm still lying on the floor
With the taste of salt and a broken body
When the world looses gaze on me, will you be sad?
Will you come before I leave the stars behind me?
And what about that man who gave me freedom...?
Will he be taken from this world too... by you?
Can you find him in the ever fading day?
What about tomorrow... I won't be with you... but I will stay right here
Patiently awaiting...
The stars as they crawl to me across the sky
And I'll wait to die
As I wait for your panic to rise
And have your love bring you here
And the man who gave me my unwanted freedom will live for tomorrow
But... what about the stars?
Will they miss me?
What about you... do you miss me already?
And that man who is so broken he shares his pain
Will you save him too, the way he saved me?
With a taste of salt and a broken body?
While you listen to him plead for a different freedom...
Is there a line where the stars alow our leaving...
Or all we all the same?
For what have I done with today?
The sun has shone... and now
It will soon be gone
With the stars silently calling 'goodbye'
'Goodbye'
'Goodbye'
Maybe you'll shine with us
And watch another angel die.
