Pearls Of Wisdom Poem by Tom Allport

Pearls Of Wisdom

Rating: 4.3

when I was a young boy
my father said to me
son- be a poet
in order to be free
and after a few years
of writing honest glee
my ganny mac one day
whispered to me
tom your a poet
don't ever go to sea
for ships can sink
where as books make us think
then me mam said to me
write your truths
and let it be
but a word of caution
she then offered to me
beware the writing groups
that only offer tea.

Light-hearted and yet quite deep and true. Nice that you got encouragement to write. I did too, from my mom when I was a kid. Could use some more of that from family now. They just think I'm nuts.
