Peeing In The Sandbox Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Peeing In The Sandbox

Rating: 4.5

PEEING IN THE SANDBOX

baby
can't decide
to live or die

baby
reluctantly
opts for...life

baby
happy now
she's hung around

she my child now
forgets her death
whispering in her ear

stops her play ever now
and seems to listen
to what her Death had to say

then peeing
in the sandbox
laughs loudly at her Death

her Death
slinks off sulkily
her laughter hurts him

little daughter
plants her first seed
it grows within her heart

through the jamjar
roots come into being
'Aghh....it's growing spiders! '

tiniest of shoots
pops its head above soil
'Oh...it growed...it growed'
