People are a mystery
the inner workings of a mind
the inner desires of each soul
feel near impossible to understand
to comprehend and attach a value
as to what worth they could bring
to befriend and celebrate their company
sometimes feels like an impossible task
and conversations that drift into tedium
yes there is a give and take, accepted
only sometimes you end up giving to much
that you lose part of you very self
or worse still you lose time for nothing
short of poorly worded anecdotes
that become so easily forgotten
searching for and finding those people
who offer a mystery worth solving
who offer a value to discover
how few and far between they are
making one wonder the question
are people worth the work
we put into them
