People Have Their Own Versions Of Truth Poem by RIC BASTASA

People Have Their Own Versions Of Truth

it is anger
that justifies their
expulsion of the truth

there is only one truth
i suppose

but in the court
truth becomes a sixteen-headed
monster
and each head keeps on saying
i am the one

one by one
reasons slew each head
until the single truth
comes out
alive

on a tongue of fire
it burns us all
