Perfection Poem by laurajayne Kennedy

Perfection

So sick of people
Pretending all the time,
Individuals thinking that’s its best
If they just looked like the rest.

So tired of sticking To the norm,
Being judged on appearance.
As society goes deeper into this fashion.

So confused
By the mixed signals
That this life seems to bring.
Many differences of opinions
That just don’t mean a thing.

So sick and tired
Of the media portrayal
Of the perfect shape and size.
In every magazine
Diet tips, and beauty enhancing merchandise.

Adverts on the television
Photos in the street,
Every where you look
People with perfect teeth.

No flaws on the outside
But the inside is a mess
What does it matter if you’re psychologically damaged
If you look like the next magazine model?

What will it take for society to change?
For perceptions to differ?
How much longer will this world
Continue to suffer?

So sick of living
Like I should be perfect,
That I’m wrong if I’m not.

So tired of fighting this stereotypical image
That this world has taken on,
How much longer will it last
For perfection to be in the past.
