Phailin Poem by Rajendra padhi

Phailin

The sea no more endears my eyes
Dressed in sunlight splitting bright,
No more in music lapping on shore
Birds scurry back sensing insanity
The sun shrinks, sailors look blank.

A soliloquy of death in the dark hours
Lifeless of beauty, empty of love,
Fugitive waves mad in a sport of killing
I look out of window a dance of death.

Prayers tremble in throats in silence
We suffer more than other can know,
A hidden assail on our sweet homes
We fail and crumble like trees on land
Helplessly buried like cattle on sand.

The sea is wounded to cast a danger
The dirt we throw causes anger,
A darker truth we never bother
No matter how we call us angels
Concealed in us evil, we betray Nature.

The dead gleams from phantom-sea
I mourn in a song by the whim of time,
Our arrogance of knowledge falls apart
Unaware that beauty can cause fear.

We feel so little when we surrender
We are so weak know not future,
We are played like children with dolls
Helpless like snail caught in the sand
Recreate our strength to view our goals.
