Playing The Game Poem by Jennifer Romero

Playing The Game

Spare me from your deceptive ways,
Your habits have placed me in a craze,
My heart has cooled from firey blaze,
No longer a victim of your gaze.

Only dark ashes are left
from our once upon a time,
You schemed an amorous theft,
Hoping for a victimless crime,

What the hell were you thinking?
Leading on those in disarray,
Your dignity slowing shrinking,
The niave, hopeful, become your prey

Gone is the bliss I grew addicted to,
Faint memories of you seem faraway,
The hangover you bring, I suffer through,
My belief in love comemces decay

But at least you opened wide my eyes,
Revealed the truth that had gone askew
There's no end to the rainbow, no prize,
And for doing all that I thank you.
