Playing With Fire Poem by Amy

Playing With Fire

Rating: 2.1

Playing with fire
With only my heart to lose
He can’t make up his mind
But I’m not the one to choose

Why can’t it be someone else?
Someone, well, anyone
But it has to be you
And the damage has been done

This “relationship” is too complex
I’m in far too deep
I’m in over my head
And your words to my heart, they seep

Either way, I lose out
For being in love or a friend
Is what I must decide now
In both outcomes, I lose in the end

But I wouldn’t change the past
And the feelings I withhold
It would all be wrong
My nights would be dark and cold

And even though you’re unsure
I certainly am not
Whatever it is I can do to ensure
I’ll give it everything I’ve got

Why not give me just one chance?
You did with all the others
Who cares about the distance?
Just means there’s much more to discover

And hey, lucky you, I want you
So I’ll humour you for a little longer
But know this Man, boy, child!
I’d have gone if I were stronger
