Please Sing Me A Frontier Song(Translation) Poem by Perdita Young (Hanna Wang)

Please Sing Me A Frontier Song(Translation)

Rating: 5.0

Please sing me a frontier song,
Sing it in the archaic lingua forlorn,
Sing it with tremolo and gently recall
The rivers beauteous and the mountains tall.

That scenery exists beyond the Great Wall,
And the song is touching, desolate and sour.
Perhaps you don't love to hear it,
That's because you can't feel
The yearnings that haunt me day and night.

Yet such songs we will sing, once and again,
Like the prairie shining with grass and grain,
Like the sand storm howling across the desert,
Like the hero riding on his steed so gallant, ——
HE rides all the way across dales and rivers
Back to his hometown, with glories and honors.

Oct.25,2010, windy and rainy outside.Poem by Xi Murong, translated by Perdita(Petite) .
