Pleasures Path Poem by John Leroy Maxwell

Pleasures Path

Walking thru wooded paths, natures bounty companioned
me, tricking, teasing me into blissful submission..
The Skylark, soaring in the blue, noisily exuberant..
Honeysuckle, sweetly twining, abundantly brushing
my cheeks, and I tasting the sweet nectar..
Squirrels, chipmunks and hares, playing together,
darting, startling me, leaving a trail of scraps
along their route.. Butterflies, floating on brightly
colored wings, attracted to the nectary of the flowers..
Songbirds, melodious and watchful, protective of their
boundaries, cheerfully communicating..
The lush foliage decorating en masse, a representation
of Natures abundant beauty.. Ending my walk, I
reflected on the pleasure, zest and enjoyment that only
the attractive quality of Nature can provide..
