Poem 9 Poem by Satyabrata Barik

Poem 9

I am envious of you, yet you are the one I cherish most,
For your diligence, your gifts, your autonomy, you boast.
You're the epitome of beauty, in my eyes, unfurled,
The loveliest maiden in the entire world.

My heart flares with ire if your gaze does not find mine,
If words unspoken leave my expectations behind.
Whenever our paths cross, in any earthly realm,
And if in my thoughts and dreams, you don't overwhelm.

I'd find it hard to pardon, both you and myself,
If love's embrace eludes us, and we're left on the shelf.
The thought alone constricts my breath, it grips me now,
How can I endure, if reality takes that vow?
