Poesy, Thou art an enchantress
Some swear Thou art a goddess
Capable of miracles full of grace
Descended straight from divinity
Some others are convinced of Thy profanity
Declaring aloud their suspicion of Thy malice
Almost everyone, nevertheless, believes in Thy mightiness,
But not all, to be frank, a few find Thee
Flapping Thy wings in vain, utterly powerless
Thy worshippers bow down before Thee
Consecrating altars exclusively for Thee
Chanting ‘ hosannas' to Thee with full-throated ease
And I, a true devotee, get genuinely perturbed
By premonitions of Thy possible crucifixion gruesome
That is why I invoke earnestly all the universes
To forestall the grim prospect at all events
As a man, in the name of humanity, for its redemption
