old timer veteran poet
do you still remember
those typewriter days
clanking clanking out poems
fingers striking letter keys
a mishit saw several letter keys
entangled in the same narrow space
trying to hit ribbon to hit ink on page
a single mistake a single error
meant deletion options various
to correct a frustrating error
changing a word an entire line
meant starting poem on fresh sheet
we did not then write poems fast
draft to perfect copy an error free adventure torture
Poetic journey took new advance Computer key played well Typewriter were awesome invent But computer paved path well Error free advent torture Now turned minuscule Ever dread to be Life have moved on To horizons called spaceline... You inspired me to look on to computer. Thank-you sir for admiring my work and being inspired to write about typewriter.... indeed poetry was not that fast those days...as it's now
I wrote the poem 'Writing With Typewriter Precise Thoughts', inspired by a comment by the poet Varsha Madhulika, on the poem 'Poet Error Ridden Typing Out Poems', by the poet Terence George Craddock.
I actually spent a few hours after your reply, looking at old folders of hand written and typed out poems, some hand written copies were definitely never typed out, finished without a title is a definite give away. Yes poetry is faster now, I have read that the process of typing out poems, demands more exactness and defined thought. Perhaps the difference between rough drafts and near complete drafts, is the final complete well defined and thought out poems classical poets wrote.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
Another splendid piece of writing. Thanks. Keep sharing your work with us.
