I heard a little jiggle,
a rattle at the door,
A whisper and a giggle:
“Come play with me once more! ”
I’ve been so busy leading
an unpoetic life,
so practical, yet needing
some whimsy ‘midst the strife.
The battles of adulthood
(relentless ‘gainst the soul!)
suppress the best of childhood,
and that can take its toll.
The joyful genie called me
to see the world anew,
and not deem as frivolous
a less prosaic view.
And so I let my muse free,
(a most courageous act!)
because it has a tendency
to engross and distract.

Well expressed thoughts and feelings nicely embellished with poetic rhyme and rhythm. A poignant bit of verse. Thanks for sharing.
