Poetry is the thoughts I have
I write them down for all to see
Some will like them, some will not
But, they all hold some import for me
The subject may be love or sports
Pitching woo or riding a horse
Or about hunting or fishing with worms
Or, just, some silly, rhyming verse
It may be truth, it may be tale
It may be true for someone else
But, written as if it were about me
It’s not a lie, its poetry

Nice, perfectly put. I like this poem a lot and feel it expresses my thoughts exactly. About your comment on my poem. I guess I could have wrote in another verse or two to explain myself further. I know many people love to write poems without rhyme, but even if poems do not rhyme, I think, and most definitions of poems will state, that they are rhythmic. When I read a piece that is confusing, needs to be re-read a few times to understand, is not rhymthic and does not rhyme, I would label it a short story, not a poem. I guess that is just my opinion. But dammit I'm sticking to it.. hehehe. Thanks for input though and nice work.
Well said! I think you really hit the nail on the head with this one. Great job...Jeff.
Funny I should choose this poem to read....it almost has the theme as my second poem today....so I can really relate to this piece...thanks for sharing: O)

I like this one very much... you have described quite well WHY we write as we do. Well done, Richard.
