Poetry As A Ritual Poem by RIC BASTASA

Poetry As A Ritual

poetry has become
our ritual.

it is like washing
your face
after waking up.

brushing your teeth
after breakfast.

removing the shoes
arriving home from
office.

putting pajamas before
going to sleep.

no, it is not watching
tv to make you sleep.

it is more like, if sleep
is slippery, putting
on the table lamp and
reading your work.

when it becomes everyday,
with everybody,
how can there be somebody?

we are simply looking
forward to life.

as usual.
