Poets And Poems Poem by Minnie Gehrig

Poets And Poems

Poets and poetry,
You break my heart
to love words so much
I can express all pain of holding and releasing again,

I know better than to fall in love with poets,
whose gentle pen
turns quickly

For they cannot love with all the words
running through them
No Not even half as much in reality,

I wonder if poe was so lonely as I
Perhaps Annabelle wrote as well
How giant is the pen.

It turns mere maids into fae princesses
and small boys into kings,

Perhaps it is our fall
That we have made each other so beautiful
We no longer See,

Oh but the flaws the flaws
in the beauty when seen are so much more divine
so then we drown in our longing for imperfection

I would sometimes that i could drown in the inkwell
in this love
this madness
this passion
this poem...
