Poor Me Poor You Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Poor Me Poor You

Rating: 5.0

Poor me poor you

Look left
Look right
What do you see?
Whats under the tree?
To the left is a new church
To the right is a new church
In the middle is a prayer group
They all promise heavenly soup
We are at their mercy
Poor me poor you

There is a church of this
There is a church of that and this
You donate ten percent
This denotes stern penance
The preacher gets rich
Prepares a good lying speech
Scares you with fire and brimstone
You give your precious green stone
We are at their mercy
Poor me poor you

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
There is so much money changing hands in pseudo churches with productive work. The economy will never benefit. In Zimbabwe its a cancer destroying the economy. People think they can get rich through prayer instead of hard work. Touche.
