Porch Sitting Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Porch Sitting

Decompressing while sitting on the porch
putting pressing demands of the day aside
watching the crystals of life slowly dissolve
as surfacing thoughts are unwittingly untied

A beautiful summer day invites passersby
to take a leisurely walk… small children stroll
with their mom and dad… as invisible layers
of faded childhood memories gently unfold

Sunlight is tossed about upon swaying
branches… glowing green leaves whisper
playful sounds of carefree yesterdays…
a Sally sells sea shells by the sea shore twister

The fragrance of delicate pink rose petals
veils the air… rudely replaced by diesel fumes
of a thunderous truck… scattering tranquil thoughts
retreating to the confines of glassed in rooms
