Portland Smiles In The Rain Poem by Rik Bertrand

Portland Smiles In The Rain

Happiness without reason, it comes with the season.

glee in the morning, gay in the day, love in the evening.

Life full of emotion, thoughts full of devotion,

Smiles in the rain, there is no one to blame.

Big splashes, little splashes, buckets full of rain.

Running, jumping, laughing, its not so insane.

Smiles all around with rain falling down,

why are they so happy with rain drops all around?

Portland is a crazy town, loved by one and all,

they have learned to love the rain, which is always coming down.

Laughter feels the city streets, and lines begin to form,

they have a daily rain parade, during the winter storm.

Portland is happy place, it glows with all the love.

They created the puddle walk, puddle jump, and the puddle pop.

They created the the rainy day smile you see on your walk.

So Smile on this rainy day and take a walk around the block.

SMILE when the rain comes down, and Portland smiles with you.

REB 2011, not fully rhyming poem,

based on the article 'Why do people smile in the rain' by Karen Monteverdi (writer for Examiner.com)
