Prince Poem by Andrew Castillo

Prince

I burned those letters you wrote to me,
Never gave it a second glance.
And no longer will your memory haunt me.
I pushed you away for the final time.
Never again will I let you hurt me.
You said I was empty and cold
When you were never there.
You turned a blind eye whenever I cried.
Defended you against everyone
Yet you never protected me.
Mistake me if I’m wrong.
You said you loved me
So how can you pretend you care?
Never again will I believe the lies you told me
Just to get what you want.
And never again
Never will your words guilt me.
Never will you use me for your own guilty pleasure.
Never again.
