Promises Must Be Kept Poem by DiaDuit Cluaiste

Promises Must Be Kept

A promise is a vow of honesty
And honesty is the foundation of love.
Love is a bond that can never break,
As it falls from the heavenly skies above.

But what is a bond that cannot break
If dishonesty gets in its way?
What is a connection worth to us both
If pain and suffering is what we must pay?

If it's something about me, my love, let me know
And I'll readily fix what I've done.
But I think, if we're honest, it's not at all me,
Only you and your life on the run.

For a virtuous vow of honesty
Is a promise you shouldn't accept,
If it's always replaced by excuses and lies.
A promise is a promise and must be kept.
