Prophecies Poem by Je'free Y .

Prophecies

Whoever said that world will end
In either flames or flood must have been unsure,
Playing it safe with his fatalistic generalizations
That redefine pessimism with horrid inaccuracies,
Foreboding tomorrow as a future of tragedies -

A large heavenly body shall collide with Earth,
Or countries shall sink, disappearing from the map.
Would you rather hear a prediction free of doom -
A garden of trees with no two fruits of the same kind,
Children running the meadows, flying their kites?

How about a choir of dolphins in synchronicity,
Or you in a festive island of the most gracious natives?
Wouldn't any fairy tale vision be so much better
Than an apocalyptic premonition?

Messiah wannabes proclaim a gospel
On how one nation shall wage a war against another,
A nuclear one for the disintegration of billions of people.

Fortune-tellers may warn you to be careful,
To guard your life from a speeding black BMW;
But that is probably because economic times can get tough,
And an advise to save your money
From buying expensive cars has nothing to do
With the way you are exiting this world.

The next sunrise, the coming dawn will unfold,
As you wake up to inevitable bills, loans, and taxes,
Leaving behind what was once prophesied -
The past which today has succeeded,
Preceding what lies on the horizon.
