Provincial Poem Poem by Kevin Patrick

Provincial Poem

Rating: 5.0

Some poets think that it's a crime
If all your lines refuse to rhyme
They snub their nose and simply scoff
and pack their faces down their troughs

Some are slaves to walk by meters
Even when their poor feet peters
with splintered toes that look Iambic
They'll wear their laurels to be pedantic

To always force your words by verse
Will drive you faster to a nurse
Conscripting a thought to conform
Inhibits the mind to provincial norms

For All Poetry is a delicacy
of imaginations rich tapestry

I admire those who can make a poem flow sensibly even though they end line rhyme- -my end line rhymes always sound either stiff or nonsensical. I really admire those who can fit their thought to the beat of a meter- -tried it once, said nevermore. All in all I love to try to mold my thoughts to the form of new styles- -it's fun. But I stake my horse out to pasture in the free range of free verse- -
