Psychiatry Poem by Raymond Farrell

Psychiatry

Too frequently
Psychiatry is
Little more
Than witchcraft
Dressed
In a white coat
Minus
The pointed hat
Black cloak
And broom.

Psychiatrists. The witches and warlocks that say they can heal you head and your soul? Love this poetic statement too, I agree

Since the new DSM V manual came out the psychiatrist who chaired the DSM IV committee has written a book entitled Saving Normal. I bought it and read it and it talks about all the diagnostic hyperinflation that is going on and the branding of odd perhaps, but normal behavior as psychiatric conditions. It is all getting less scientific as it goes along. Unfortunately, too many children will be put on powerful drugs due to the new guidelines and nobody really knows the long term effects.
