Puberty Poem by Je'free Y .

Puberty

Not a pretty swan nor a graceful moth.

I tell you it is a chameleon.
Its colors try to blend its surroundings.
It needs more protection from predators
Like the vulnerability of curious teens.

Experience it -
Climbing the tree of life
With the aid of sharp claws on each toe.
It will make your maturity
An accumulation of every rise and fall.

This is how I saw it -
Not a bed of roses nor an easy ride.
I swear it is a chameleon.

Polygamous, on the prowl,
Each eye, independent from one another,
Able to look in different directions at once.

Taste its savage hunger.
Its tongue can extend the length
Of its entire body, or even longer.

Forcing air from its lungs,
The voice of wild youth clamors
For the selective hearing of adults.
