Pure Girl Poem by Julie A Smith

Pure Girl

Rating: 5.0

Bid good-bye to purity
is what
the world says.
Many girls
think there is
no other way
to find love.
No other way
to be desired.
Purity is old-fashioned
and everyone cohabitates.
Not everyone though.

Some girls think differently.
Small in number,
perhaps,
and
against the social norm,
most definitely.
They want to be pure
and desired for more
than their body.
They wish more guys
understood.
The social pressure
for physical compromise,
the relentless pressure to be thin,
and the pursuit of beauty
have all taken their toll.
What girl is unmarred and unscarred?

The pure girl is still waiting,
and she still believes in marriage.
I admire her.
A second pure girl may have compromised
and done intimate things
in her past
that she vowed she would never do.
But grace and forgiveness
washed her clean and pure,
and there is no shame.
I admire her, too.
Second virginity
is beautiful,
and purity
is totally cool
no matter what the world says.
