Purpose Poem by Amanda Pearson

Purpose

Rating: 5.0

Off in the distance awaits a ravaged rusty gate
Her purpose still remains
So she waits
Waits on Gods timing

After so many years
The hope and intrigue
That kept her persevering
Was about to be fulfilled

The radiant sun beams down
And catches the mirth on her red countenance
As she sees the man approaching
She finds herself trying to reverse the eroded metal
Which over time has claimed her
But to no avail, she remains the same

The Man makes His way down the path
That leads directly to her
She is overcome by the moment
The dust, which has made its home on the ground these many years
Now arises in flurries of excitement with every step
The Man takes

Every element of creation has awakened
As they play their part in a greater purpose
She looks on in great expectation
As He moves closer to her

The trees move in accordance with the movement of this Man
As to bring Him shade
The birds’ melodic tones fill the air
So to bring pleasure to the Man’s soul

He smiles and reaches for her aged silhouette.
Tenderly he opens her gate
She lets out a deep screech
She thinks he will turn away
But to her relief He smiles a captivating smile
That warms her to the core

As he walks over the threshold and steps into the field
He turns to close the gate
He bends down, and as he pats her with loving approval
He says, “Well done”

She beams with love
And all she can think of as she wells up with joyous tears is
Beautiful
