Ragged In Fads Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Ragged In Fads

Held in bondage by their own selfish design!
Confined and conditioned by locks on their minds.
Carrying wounds within...
Feeling trapped by 'colored' skin.
And doing their best to wrestle with unrest.
Seeking acceptance,
And yet rejecting with protests!

Back biting each other with calls to unite.
Contradicting the actions of believers out of sight!
Fighting they do amongst themselves...
Day end and under moonlight.
And when left alone they create their own blight!
Ragged in fads are these lost urbanites!
Believing what they do is right,
Inspite of those who view their tasteless ways...
As wrong and tattered.
