Rain Drain Poem by Kayode Are

Rain Drain

Rating: 3.0

Drenched by the rain as they train
Rains no drain on the strain
Muscles ripple wit in pain for vigor
Guarding sovereignty with ardor
Would the flame be quelled by a slip
With sentry alert in a firm grip
While the weak and meek enjoy sleep
Sentinels strain to earn their keep
They sweat to capture a tactical bound
Threat to none but eagle hounds
Stretching to hone spartan skills
Training hard for the critical kill
When the hour comes to fight foes
Who wish our land chain of woes
We train in the drench of the rain
Protecting national gain and peaceful reign
Lying in trenches in the dead of night
To let folks snooze in their bed in delight
As we keep fresh and potent the nation's might
