Rainbow - Poem by Dilantha Gunawardana

Violet, lavenders blooming
in the meadows of the monsoon sky

Indigo, an explosion of a fiesta of color
From the vigor of a dye

Blue, the azure curtain veiling
The nexus between heaven and earth

Green, the princess in jade
Blossoming in the sprinkling of mirth

Yellow, constellations of imperial topazes
In a grandiose display

Orange, the color of a heavenly flame
In a grotto of sun-baked clay

Red, a bevy of rubies
Strewn from God's supple fingers

As a rainbow prospers in the monsoons
The strain of love lingers
