Rainbows Poem by Teresa Reuter

Rainbows

Rating: 5.0

The bulbs are planted side by side
the dirt covered over in which they hide.
They nourish each other to grow and bloom
reaching higher and higher to escape the gloom.

As the sun and the rain enrich the soil
the bulbs' roots grow out, intertwine and coil.
Together they work to break the surface
excited by their new sense of purpose.

Buds of brilliant colors ready to spring
soak up the suns' rays and the hope that they bring.
They dream of the beauty that they will provide
growing higher and higher, standing side by side.

Through storm clouds, cold, wind and rain
the flowers hold each other, easing the pain.
Both believing the sun will shine so bright
bringing joy and contentment that feels so right.

A rainbow embraces the flowers with care
holding them up even when it's not there.
As time passes on they enjoy one another
sharing life's passion, lover to lover.

Unsure of what the future may hold
the flowers keep reaching for the pot of gold.
The knowledge that there could be an end
forever grateful that they have a friend.
