Rainmaker Poem by Raimi Babatunde

Rainmaker

You went with the rain
After HE honoured your call
And sent down the rain
Legends never die
They transit

You'll always be in our mind
The one and only Rain Maker
Majekodunmi Fasheke is gone
But in his music, he lives
What will you be remembered for?

The closest I got was at honour entrance
For minutes I was awed and marveled
A living legend, just metres away
But for protocols that held me bound
I would have giving the knee salute

They were looking for the rain
They prayed and burnt incense
They fasted and gave sacrifices
What they didn't know was
You were the Rain

You put Nigeria on the world map
Redefined reggae in another light
You were a Prophet with a loud voice
And your altar was the world stage
Thank you for making our childhood green

The cloud is no longer looking misty
It's no longer looking like rain gonna fall
The windows of heaven are already opened
It took you in and sent down the rain
Thank you to the original Rainmaker

One day, you'll be no more
You'll be remembered for these two
The problems you solved or created
I choose the former hence my pen drips
Maybe one day, the world yoo will know my name.
