Recollections Of Rain Poem by Somnath Sarkar

Recollections Of Rain

Last night's cloud burst and torrents it rained ….
And flowing all day today it drained.
I was travelling on my life cycle going afar,
My finger tips were frozen on the handlebar ~
As I watched the streetlights scurry by leaving a scar.
A graphic trace of unfamiliar relations on chilly, rigid tar….
Watching the rain drops melt way by far;
The burnt pungent smell of wet pine smoke,
Saving grace of fire to live life in the cold choke,
The rain, relentless pours in swerve and slew…..
I move on remembering my time spent with you!

Distant memories ruminates in my mind aglow;
As I uncover one more rainy evening decades ago.
Rainy sit outs, hand in hand, we had looked at the snow …..
Our laughter and the warmth, ginger bread in wine~
The loghut hearth blazing warm with blocks of pine,
The honeybee was dozing on the bottle crown;
As I was lost looking at your eyes so brown….
Time rolled by as the days merged into the night,
We walked on the trails holding each other tight! !
