With God we would be reconciled
We’d dwell The Promised Land
But lest we come as would a child
We fail to understand
We fail to see the truth of Christ
Redemption’s awesome plan
The reason why God sacrificed
His Son as mortal man
We fail to see our selfish ways
The selflessness on high
The perfect love that would amaze
A child who wonders why
Who seek the hand of God in theirs
Who seek His warm caress
With heart and soul believe He cares
Their childishness to bless
It’s hard for pride to see such things
Or for the worldly wise
For sin to fly on eagle wings
And enter Paradise
Yet innocence of childish thought
The trust unyoked within
Believe their Saviour’s true report
And destiny of sin
Many continue running wild
Condemned through selfish lust
Yet blessed is the child meek and mild
Who place in Christ their trust
As children then we ought to be
As children seeking love
In spirit and in truth to see
The only way above
With God we would be reconciled
We’d dwell The Promised Land
But lest we come as would a child
We fail to understand
We fail to see the truth of Christ
Redemption’s awesome plan
The reason why God sacrificed
His Son as mortal man
We fail to see our selfish ways
The selflessness on high
The perfect love that would amaze
A child who wonders why
Who seek the hand of God in theirs
Who seek His warm caress
With heart and soul believe He cares
Their childishness to bless
It’s hard for pride to see such things
Or for the worldly wise
For sin to fly on eagle wings
And enter Paradise
Yet innocence of childish thought
The trust unyoked within
Believe their Saviour’s true report
And destiny of sin
Many continue running wild
Condemned through selfish lust
Yet blessed is the child meek and mild
Who place in Christ their trust
As children then we ought to be
As children seeking love
In spirit and in truth to see
The only way above
