Reflections On The River Poem by Himanshu Bhandari

Reflections On The River

Rating: 4.5

The water of the river deep
Enthralled me as I attempted to peep
From the boat, the azure depth beckoned
I was spellbound, my hearththrob quickened.

For centuries she has been flowing
Giving life to all around her, filling hearts with joy.
But has even one understood her silence
Her hopes, frustrations, emptiness and pain.

Cared by none and used as a dump
Her waters still have the old resplendence
But is lost the purity of times past
The beauty of her youthful days.

How can we be so callous, so merciless
To one who has given us so much
Alas! One who gives, does not complain
Is bound to suffer such indifference and pain.

She moves ahead and changes her hue
She does not care for what is her due!
Embodied with the very spirit of life
She moves on her journey without strife.
