Regret Poem by Gary Ware

Regret

I know inside, I have hurt you.
Even tho, your love was true.
Pushed you to depths of despair.
Acted like I didn't care.
Unfounded accusations thrown.
Forced you from a loving home.
Now I stand and look around.
Our lives in tatters, a waste ground.
A prison warden I have become
Not a lover or a friend
So please believe this to be true
I really see, what I have done to you
If I could relive our time again.
Your broken heart, I would try to mend.
But time is not on my side.
alone without you, I fear I'll die.
