Religion Poem by Jan Oskar Hansen

Religion

Religion

Christianity was deeply embedded in European thinking
alas, it is losing its grip, or preferably the Church is.
The established clerics have nothing to offer but platitudes
sex abuse behind glorious words.
"Love thy neighbours as you love yourself."
Love, charity and forgiveness are forgotten in the melee
of the free expression
Instead, we have got TV programs that lack humour
And is banally seeking to please the masses. Comedy is
no longer ironic but about filthy words said openly.
Politicians are corrupt and when wrong do not apologise
but arrogantly go on telling lies.
Newspapers tell lies and serve it as the gospel truth,
this because we have lost the real message which is about love,
peace and forgiveness, the rest? Is humbug spoken from the pulpits of churches and cathedrals that have lost all credibility?

" Newspapers tell lies and serve it as the gospel truth, " Very true. Not all Christian denominations are like the Roman Catholics. Check out some of the many others.
