Seeking contentment running wild
Living the devil’s ways
Remember when depressed my child
You tried to end your days
Remember when you cried and cried
And seldom failed to groan
So many times you sought to hide
When feeling all alone
Remember when you thought me dead
You thought my Son a lie
The wayward foolish life you led
And only felt to die
Remember when your life was cursed
Your heart was plagued with fear
You felt your very soul would burst
And death was ever near
Remember when you called my name?
When bound in deep despair
You felt the burden of your shame
And thought I didn’t care
Remember in the place of sin
When Light caressed your soul
When first my fire came within?
And Jesus made you whole
Remember when my grace arrived
When Truth your life revealed
When love restored which was deprived
And death began to yield
I loved you then I love you now
Of this you can be sure
I’ll bless you as you hold the plough
And help as you endure
