Rememberance Day Poem by Theresa Goertz

Rememberance Day

The fight is over
no one's left standing
except for a lonely soldier.
The lonely soldier checks every body
for a sign of life.
he finds none.
He falls to his knees
and starts to cry.
For everyone but
him is gone.
When he stops crying
he sees poppies blooming
in the blood that was spilt that day.
He makes a vow
that even if he dies
he will try
to make
that day
a very sad
holiday.
A holiday for families
who had someone loved in the war die
mourn their loss.
A holiday for every person
to remember the soldiers
who fought in the war.
The lonely soldier
will call this day Rememberance Day.
The saddest day of the year.
The day we remember,
those who saved us,
and those who fought for us.
Rememberance Day is here!
