Resistance Poem by Jason Daniels

Resistance

You can’t hold me back now!
Your grip on my heart
Is no more! But how?
You failed to contain one important part!

While you took hold
Of my heart in your hand,
And you failed to realize I cannot be sold,
My soul prepared its one final stand!

You influenced my deeds:
Twisting my mind to your will
And planting your seeds,
My soul you tried to kill!

You held hold of my heart
A twisted my mind.
My body at war, I had but one land.
And the soul was the one you would never bind!

On the offensive, my soul fought hard
Cleansing the infection of sin.
Erasing every trace, leaving not one shard!
This battle is done but far from a win...

The evil still lingers
Revived by my pain
Waiting to stretch out its fingers
And start the war all over again...
