Reunion Poem by Janis Land Raymer

Reunion

I still remember that day
how I prayed and begged God
not to take you away.
I still remember the emptiness and pain
knowing with you gone
nothing would ever be the same.
The day we buried you was hard
I didn't know how to grieve.
I wanted to go with you
I didn't want you to leave.
But now I know you're safe
in our Father's embrace.
Death is natural,
the finish line comes to every race.
I'm looking foreward to our reunion,
feeling your hug-seeing your smile.
I know we'll be together again
in just a little while.
So until that day,
my memories of you will have to
comfort me.
Until my God calls me home,
and your precious face I'll see.
