I gave you my heart
and you took it from me.
I paid for the ring, and the church, and the house,
you gave me that smile,
it was free.
I gave you my labour,
my labour of love, I gave you me.
I paid for your stuff, and all of the bills,
you gave me sex,
it was free.
I leave you most of each dress that you wore, so elegantly,
most of each shoe, no longer able to make you as tall as me.
I leave your vast array of perfume bottles, expensive, and empty.
You gave so little of your heart and your mind to me,
now I take so little of you,
I am free.
