Rough And Ready Johnny Poem by Francis Duggan

Rough And Ready Johnny

Rough and ready Johnny is one who looks rough
But looks can be deceptive he is not in any way tough
Tousled long brown hair and bushy brown beard
He does indeed look like a man to be feared
Yet a very nice person of him one can say
Quite helpful and kind in his own gentle way
A powerfully built fellow in his late twenties in the prime of his life
devoted to his young daughter Jo and her mother Jane his wife
Though he is one who does not consume lots of beer
At the local on a Saturday evening he enjoys the pub cheer
Happy and smiling and in the mood for song
And a willing participant in the pub sing along
What your eyes sometimes tell you do not always believe
In the case of rough and ready Johnny looks can deceive.
