Rounding Circles Poem by Lonnie Hicks

Rounding Circles

Rating: 4.8

I'll not lift your mouth
from these trembling breasts
because they welcome that warm touch
brushing moisturizings
melding need and baby
sucklings.

I'll not move away from
your mouth's insistings
because that mouth makes
me feel needed
and loved
even taken.

You and I have this between us
life began at these breasts
and they are forever lodged
in our sucking memories
No, keep our mouth there
because it is life's reunion
where the circle is rounded
closing.
